A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Charles 1
"Charlie" Ray Edmonds. 2
WHEREAS, Charles "Charlie" Ray Edmonds was born on February 11, 1938 , in 3
Burna, Kentucky, to the late Ottie and Raylene Edmonds; and 4
WHEREAS, Charlie Ray Edmonds centered his life on family, hard work, faith, 5
and service to his community; and 6
WHEREAS, Charlie Ray Edmonds began his career as a bread deliveryman, where 7
he met the love of life, Wilma Edmonds, sharing 56 years of marriage filled with love, 8
laughter, and family; and 9
WHEREAS, through his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit, Charlie Ray 10
Edmonds opened and operated the local restaurant many remember as Burger Que en, 11
which later became Druther's and then Dairy Queen. In addition, Charlie Ray Edmonds 12
partnered in other business ventures, including Calvert City Shell convenience store and 13
Willow Pond in Eddyville; and 14
WHEREAS, Charlie Ray Edmonds faithfully served on the Benton City Council for 15
over 25 years, helping guide and support the growth of the city; and 16
WHEREAS, in addition to his public service, Charlie Ray Edmonds was a longtime 17
member of Christian Fellowship Church, enjoying his time serving as a greeter. In his 18
spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and cheering on Marshall County sports, the St. 19
Louis Cardinals, and the Kentucky Wildcats; and 20
WHEREAS, on February 11, 2026, Charlie Ray Edmonds passed away at home 21
surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by hi s beloved wife, Wilma Edmonds; 22
daughters, Alison Clark and Jennifer (Tommy) Jezik; son, Carter (Brenda) Edmonds; 23
grandchildren, Garrett Clark, Presley (Tyler Powell) Jezik, Neyland Jezik, Cole (Shelby) 24
Edmonds, and Cortny Edmonds; great -grandchildren, Ches ney Edmonds and Cohen 25
Edmonds; and several nieces and nephews; and 26
WHEREAS, Charlie Ray Edmonds will be remembered for his strong work ethic, 27

generous heart, and the pride he took in his family and community. His legacy lives on 1
not only through the businesses he helped create and the city he served, but through the 2
joy he brought to his family and the lives of others; 3
NOW, THEREFORE, 4
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 5
Kentucky: 6
Section 1. The Senate hereby extends its most profound sympathy upon the 7
passing of Charles "Charlie" Ray Edmonds and expresses heartfelt condolences to his 8
family and community in this time of loss. 9
Section 2. When the Sena te adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 10
memory of Charles "Charlie" Ray Edmonds. 11
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 12
Resolution to Senator Danny Carroll for delivery to the family. 13
