A RESOLUTION commending the valor of Chief Warrant Officer Five Eric A. 1
Slover for demonstrating gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty 2
while serving his country in the United States Army, and honoring him as a recipient of 3
the Medal of Honor. 4
WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Five Eric Slover distinguished himself by 5
conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity, above and beyond the call of duty, on Janua ry 3, 6
2026, during a mission in Venezuela, in support of Operation Absolute Resolve, the 7
operation that led to the capture of Venezuela's President, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife; 8
and 9
WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Five Eric Slover, serving in the Fort Camp bell-10
based 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) known as the "Night 11
Stalkers," piloted his MH -47 Chinook helicopter as the lead aircraft of the operation, 12
tasked with executing a highly complex infiltration through hostile Integrated Air 13
Defense Systems to safely deliver military forces; and 14
WHEREAS, during ingress, Chief Warrant Officer Eric Slover skillfully led the 15
helicopter force through a dense jungle valley in a mountainous region, navigating 16
marginal weather conditions, numerous top ographical hazards, and near insurmountable 17
surface-to-air threats; and 18
WHEREAS, upon touching down at the designated landing zone, Chief Warrant 19
Officer Five Slover's aircraft was immediately engaged by multiple machine gun 20
positions at close range. The hostile fire resulted in 15 armor-piercing rounds entering his 21
cockpit, with four rounds striking his leg; and 22
WHEREAS, despite the intense and effective enemy fire, and at great personal risk, 23
Chief Warrant Officer Five Slover maintained his situational aw areness and aircraft's 24
position in the line of fire to ensure the safe infiltration of the military forces; and 25
WHEREAS, after the force disembarked, and despite suffering significant life -26
threatening injuries, Chief Warrant Officer Five Slover identified hostile heavy machine 27

gun positions that were engaging his aircraft to enable his door gunner to deliver effective 1
fire, successfully neutralizing the threats; and 2
WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Five Slover's heroic actions undoubtedly saved 3
countless Amer ican lives and ensured the complete and overwhelming success of the 4
mission; and 5
WHEREAS, Chief Warrant Officer Five Eric Slover's gallantry under fire and 6
extraordinary valor are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and 7
reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army; and 8
WHEREAS, Kentucky is honored and proud to be the home of Chief Warrant 9
Officer Five Eric Slover and commends his heroic actions during Operation Absolute 10
Resolve; 11
NOW, THEREFORE, 12
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 13
Kentucky: 14
Section 1. The Senate hereby recognizes the extraordinary valor of Chief 15
Warrant Officer Five Eric A. Slover for demonstrating gallantry and intrepidity above 16
and beyond the call of duty while serving his country in the United St ates Army, and 17
honors him as a recipient of the Medal of Honor. 18
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in awe and respect of 19
Chief Warrant Officer Five Eric A. Slover. 20
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 21
Resolution to Senator Jason Howell for presentation. 22
