A RESOLUTION designating March 31, 2026, as Kentucky Translational Science 1
Day in the Commonwealth. 2
WHEREAS, part of the mission of the University of Kentucky is to advance the 3
health of the state it serves, fulfilling a unique mandate to improve quality of life for all 4
Kentuckians; and 5
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth’s flagship university is home to a wealth of 6
expertise, anchored by 16 colleges on one contiguous campus, allowing the university to 7
develop multidisciplinary solutions to address the most pressing and complex health 8
challenges in the state; and 9
WHEREAS, the University of Kentucky demonstrates a strong commitment to 10
translational science, a field of study that aims to convert scientific discoveries in 11
laboratories into practical interventions that improve the health of communities 12
worldwide; and 13
WHEREAS, research conducted at the University of Kentucky attracts hundreds of 14
millions of dollars in federal and ind ustry funding annually to address some of the 15
nation's most critical health crises, including Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, 16
cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and the unique health challenges facing Central 17
Appalachia; and 18
WHEREAS, the University of Kentucky Center for Clinical and Translational 19
Science (CCTS) serves as the essential engine that ensures that research evidence is 20
shared and implemented to benefit the public in clinical practice, prevention initiatives, 21
and community health systems; and 22
WHEREAS, by pioneering innovative methods, such as artificial intelligence -23
supported trend prediction and universal biospecimen banking, the University of 24
Kentucky CCTS promotes efficiency in research and removes operational barriers to 25
discovery; and 26
WHEREAS, the University of Kentucky CCTS invests in the people behind the 27

science, supporting a multidisciplinary workforce of researchers, scholars, staff, and 1
community partners who serve as the essential heartbeat of Kentucky’s scientific 2

WHEREAS, translational science and the work of the University of Kentucky in the 4
field serves to advance the health and well -being of Kentuckians, which is of great value 5
to the Commonwealth; 6
NOW, THEREFORE, 7
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 8
Kentucky: 9
Section 1. The Senate hereby designates March 31, 2026, as Kentucky 10
Translational Science Day in the Commonwealth. 11
Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 12
Resolution to Senator Amanda Mays Bledsoe. 13
