A RESOLUTION honoring the Kentucky State Building and Construction Trades 1
Council and recognizing March 5, 2026, as Trades Day at the Capitol. 2
WHEREAS, the Kentucky State Building and Construction Trades Council, AFL -3
CIO was chartered on November 18, 1937, by the Building and Construction Trades 4
Department, anchored on the mission of advancing social and economic justice for all 5
working families; and 6
WHEREAS, since i ts inception, the Kentucky State Building and Construction 7
Trades Council, AFL-CIO has stood at the forefront of pursuits to promote harmony and 8
cooperation with various crafts and local unions in the Commonwealth, working 9
diligently to secure the rights of over 25,000 members statewide and support the building 10
and construction trades industry in Kentucky; and 11
WHEREAS, unions in the Kentucky State Building and Construction Trades 12
Council, AFL -CIO strive to build a high -performance construction industry thro ugh 13
investing in skilled workforce development of their crafts to ensure the highest quality of 14
workmanship, encouraging efficient productivity, and increasing apprenticeship 15
opportunities; and 16
WHEREAS, the Kentucky State Building and Construction Trades C ouncil, AFL-17
CIO provides a career pathway for citizens in historically disadvantaged communities, 18
drives private investment, advocates for family -sustaining wages, and helps Kentuckians 19
acquire job readiness; and 20
WHEREAS, the Kentucky State Building Constr uction Trades Council, AFL -CIO 21
is a steadfast leader in the effort to assist our military veterans, sponsoring significant 22
initiatives such as the "Helmets to Hardhats" program that has helped transitioning 23
veterans obtain jobs and career training in the construction industry; and 24
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to offer sincere recognition of the Kentucky State 25
Building Construction Trades Council, AFL -CIO for its nearly 100 years of visionary 26
leadership and dedicated service, and as verifiable proof of the inv aluable work unions 27

provide toward maintaining the health, safety, and fair -wage standards of workers in our 1
Commonwealth; 2
NOW, THEREFORE, 3
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 4
Kentucky: 5
Section 1. The Senate hereby honors the Kentucky State Building and 6
Construction Trades Council, AFL -CIO for its historic and continuing contributions to 7
the welfare and prosperity of the Commonwealth and recognizes March 5, 2026, as 8
Trades Day at the Capitol. 9
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of the 10
Kentucky State Building and Construction Trades Council, AFL -CIO, whose skill and 11
service continue to move the Commonwealth forward. 12
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 13
Resolution to Senator Scott Madon. 14
