A RESOLUTION honoring Senator Cassie Chambers Armstrong on her 1
achievement in becoming the first woman in Kentucky history to hold a Senate 2
Democratic leadership position. 3
WHEREAS, Senator Cassie Chambers Armstrong was sworn into office in March 4
2023, and has dutifully served Kentucky's 19th Senatorial District, which encompasses 5
parts of Jefferson County; and 6
WHEREAS, born and raised in Berea, Kentucky, Senator Cas sie Chambers 7
Armstrong is a graduate of Yale University, the London School of Economics, and 8
Harvard Law School; and 9
WHEREAS, a devoted public servant, Senator Cassie Chambers Armstrong began 10
her legal career as a Skadden Fellow, providing free legal repre sentation to low -income 11
survivors of domestic violence. She later joined the faculty at the University of Louisville 12
Brandeis School of Law, where her scholarship focused on rural access to justice and 13
strengthening public institutions; and 14
WHEREAS, prior to serving in the Kentucky Senate, Senator Cassie Chambers 15
Armstrong served on the Louisville Metro Council, where she championed affordable 16
childcare, stronger housing protections, and policies to support working families; and 17
WHEREAS, since entering the General Assembly, Senator Cassie Chambers 18
Armstrong has focused on expanding opportunities for Kentuckians, strengthening 19
families, improving economic stability, and ensuring that government works 20
transparently and effectively for all Kentuckians. Her legi slative work emphasizes 21
practical solutions that modernize state systems, support children and families, and 22
promote fairness across communities; and 23
WHEREAS, prior to the 2026 Regular Session, Senator Cassie Chambers 24
Armstrong was elected by her colleague s to serve as the Senate Democratic Caucus 25
Whip, becoming the first woman in Kentucky history to hold a Senate Democratic 26
leadership position, a historic milestone for the Democratic caucus and the 27

Commonwealth; and 1
WHEREAS, as Democratic Caucus Whip, Sena tor Cassie Chambers Armstrong 2
plays a central role in guiding caucus strategy, coordinating member management, and 3
communicating Democratic priorities through the legislative process. Her leadership 4
election reflects the confidence of her colleagues and he r reputation as a diligent, 5
thoughtful, and forward-thinking policymaker; and 6
WHEREAS, in recognition of Women's History Month, the members of the Senate 7
hereby congratulate Senator Cassie Chambers Armstrong for this remarkable and 8
trailblazing achievement and wish her success in her new position; 9
NOW, THEREFORE, 10
Be it resolved by t he Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 11
Kentucky: 12
Section 1. The Senate hereby recognizes and honors Senator Cassie Chambers 13
Armstrong on her remarkable accomplishment as the first woman in Kentucky history to 14
hold a Senate Democratic leadership position, serving as the Senate Democratic Caucus 15
Whip, and wishes her the best of success in her new role. 16
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of the 17
extraordinary accomplishment of Senator Cassie Chambers Armstrong. 18
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 19
Resolution to Senator Keturah Herron for delivery to Senator Cassie Chambers 20
Armstrong. 21
