A RESOLUTION honoring Pastor Richard Gaines, on the occasion of his thirtieth 1

WHEREAS, Pastor Richard Gaines was born in Tyler, Texas; and 3
WHEREAS, prior to a career in the ministry, Pastor Richard Gaines studied at 4
Stephen F. Austin State University, earning a bachelor degree in Marketing, and worked 5
in corporate America; and 6
WHEREAS, after deciding to dedicate his life t o the ministry, Pastor Richard 7
Gaines preached at First Baptist Church of Chesterfield, Missouri, and later was ordained 8
at First Baptist Church of Jeffersontown, Kentucky; and 9
WHEREAS, Pastor Richard Gaines earned a Master of Divinity from the Southern 10
Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky; and 11
WHEREAS, Pastor Richard Gaines currently serves as the Senior Pastor of 12
Consolidated Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky; and 13
WHEREAS, Pastor Richard Gaines has been active in numerous boards and 14
organizations, including but not limited to Assurance, the Bluegrass Marriage Task 15
Force, B.U.I.L.D, Georgetown College, Simmons College of Kentucky, and the United 16
Way of the Bluegrass; and 17
WHEREAS, Pastor Richard Gaines is a proud member of Phi Beta Sig ma 18
Fraternity, Inc.; and 19
WHEREAS, Pastor Richard Gaines is married to Sarah A. Barnett of Cincinnati, 20

WHEREAS, Pastor Richard Gaines is the proud father of Micah Richard, and the 22
proud grandfather of Micah Richard Gaines II; and 23
WHEREAS, at Consolidated Baptist Church, Pastor Richard Gaines is best known 24
for his love for God's word, his compassion for peop le, and his unwavering commitment 25

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 1
Kentucky: 2
Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby express their most hearty 3
congratulations to Pastor Richard Gaines on the occasion of his thirtieth anniversary with 4
Consolidated Baptist Church. 5
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns today, it does so in recognition of Pastor 6
Richard Gaines's contributions to his church and community. 7
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 8
Resolution to Senator Reginald Thomas. 9
