A RESOLUTION honoring and remembering Technical Sergeant Ashley B. Pruitt 1
upon her passing as she made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. 2
WHEREAS, a daughter of Bardstown, Kentucky, Technical Sergeant Ashley B. 3
Pruitt shared a life with her husband, Gregory Pruitt, their 3 -year-old daughter, and her 4
stepson; and 5
WHEREAS, Technical Sergeant Pruitt joined the United States Air Force in 2017, 6
deployed four times, had nearly 900 combat flight hours, and held two associate degrees 7
from the Community College of the Air Force; and 8
WHEREAS, Technical Sergeant Pruitt most recently served with the 99th Air 9
Refueling Squadron from Sumpter Smith Joint National Guard Base in Birmingham, 10
Alabama. She was an assistant flight chief of operations and was an instructor in 11
operating the refueling boom of a KC-135 Stratotanker; and 12
WHEREAS, on March 12, 2026, while supporting Operation Epic Fury, Technical 13
Sergeant Pruitt's final mi ssion ended in the deserts of western Iraq when her KC -135 14
Stratotanker went down, taking Technical Sergeant Pruitt and five other servicemembers 15
with it; and 16
WHEREAS, Technical Sergeant Pruitt lived with courage, a spirit of service, and a 17
love for her country that took her from the heart of Nelson County to the farthest reaches 18
of the globe. Her husband stated she was, "...in a word, radiant. If there was a light in the 19
room, she was it."; and 20
WHEREAS, the country, our Commonwealth, and her family all mou rn the loss of 21
Technical Sergeant Pruitt, whose life and heroic service will never be forgotten; and 22
WHEREAS, as General Steven Nordhaus said, "Our greatest history is written in 23
the lives of people like Ashley. She was a daughter of Nelson County, a siste r in arms, 24
and a hero for us all. Her watch has ended, her flight finished, and she is home at last in 25
the hearts of those who loved her."; 26

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 1
Kentucky: 2
Section 1. The Senate hereby honors and remembers Technical Sergeant Ashley 3
B. Pruitt upon her passing, as she made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. 4
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 5
remembrance of Technical Sergeant Ashley B. Pruitt. 6
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 7
Resolution to Senator Jimmy Higdon for delivery to the family. 8
