A RESOLUTION honoring the Kentucky state Long -Term Care Ombudsman 1
Program. 2
WHEREAS, the Kentucky state Long -Term Care Ombudsman Program serves as a 3
vital advocate for residents of nursing homes, assisted living facilities, personal care 4
homes, and family care homes throughout the Commonwealth, working tirelessly to 5
improve the quality of care and quality of life for long -term care residents in Kentucky; 6
and 7
WHEREAS, the program, coordinated through the Office of the State Long -Term 8
Care Ombudsman, oversees the critical work of 15 district ombudsman programs, 40 full-9
time staff, and 191 program volunteers; and 10
WHEREAS, the program serves over 40,000 Kentucky residents who reside in over 11
600 long -term care facilities throughout Kentucky to ensure a consistent and 12
compassionate response to the needs of long-term care residents across Kentucky; and 13
WHEREAS, the Kentucky state Long -Term Care Ombudsman Program, supported 14
by federal, state, and local funding, provides essential services without charge to 15
residents, reflecting commitment to serving vulnerable individuals and communities with 16
integrity and fairness; and 17
WHEREAS, the responsibilities of long -term care ombudsmen are extensive and 18
impactful; and 19
WHEREAS, long -term care ombudsmen identify, investigate, and resolve 20
complaints made by or on behalf of residents; and 21
WHEREAS, long-term care ombudsmen advocate for systemic changes to improve 22
residents' quality of care and quality of life; and 23
WHEREAS, the dedication and advocacy of the Kentucky state Long -Term Care 24
Ombudsman Program ensures that the voices of long -term care residents are heard, their 25
rights are protected, and their concerns are addressed, fostering dignity, respect, and 26
quality of care for all; and 27

WHEREAS, the Kentucky state Long -Term Care Ombudsman Program serves as a 1
shining example of compassion, advocacy, and public service, inspiring residents, 2
families, caregivers, and the broader community to uphold the highest standards of care 3
and respect for those in long-term care settings; 4
NOW, THEREFORE, 5
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 6
Kentucky: 7
Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby recognize and commend the 8
Kentucky state Long -Term Care Ombudsman Program for its exemplary advocacy, 9
unwavering dedication, and profound impact on the lives of long -term care residents and 10
their families. 11
Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 12
Resolution to Senator Amanda Mays Bledsoe for delivery. 13
