WHEREAS, Tristan Markese York Brown was born May 1, 2009, to Lindsey 3
Danielle York Brown and Rico Brown, Jr.; and 4
WHEREAS, Tristan Markese York Brown was a vibrant 16 year old from Berea 5
and a sophomore at Madison Southern High School, where his presence was a gift to his 6
peers and teachers alike. He loved football, shoes, p hotography, fishing, his dogs, and 7
playing video games, especially Grand Theft Auto 5. He also enjoyed traveling and 8
marveling at the sunset; and 9
WHEREAS, Tristan Markese York Brown was defined by a heart that knew no 10
bounds. He was a steadfast friend, a p illar of reliability, and a young man whose respect 11
for others was matched only by his kindness. Above all, he embraced his role as a 12
devoted big brother to his sister, Laniya, with a protective and gentle spirit; and 13
WHEREAS, Tristan Markese York Brown's life was anchored by his faith. He was 14
a dedicated servant of Christ and a faithful member of Life Church in Richmond. Tristan 15
lived with a grace that extended far beyond his years; and 16
WHEREAS, on July 20, 2025, Tristan Markese York Brown tragically depar ted 17
these earthly bounds. Tristan's life was taken in a traffic catastrophe when a semi -truck 18
rearended the pickup truck driven by his father, throwing Tristan from the vehicle. The 19
impact also severely injured his father and sister. The investigation following the accident 20
showed that the semi-truck driver did not engage his brakes prior to the accident; and 21
WHEREAS, in addition to his parents, Tristan Markese York Brown is survived by 22
his sister, Laniya Brown; paternal grandparents, Rico Brown, Sr., Mary Maccall, and 23
Pamela Powell; maternal grandparents, Chris (Kristi) York, Melissa McGowan, and 24
Jamie York; great grandmothers, Judy Smith and Alma Crew; paternal aunts and uncles, 25
Raquel Brown, Derico Brown, Rodney Huggins, Jr., Alexis Huggins, Gracie Brown, and 26
Ella Brown; and maternal aunts and uncles, Rhyan York, Gabby (Keith) Hughes, and 27

Michael Brown; and 1
WHEREAS, the passing of Tristan Markese York Brown leaves an unfillable void 2
in the hearts of his family, his school, his community, and all who knew him; 3
NOW, THEREFORE, 4
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 5
Kentucky: 6
Section 1. The Senate expresses its most profound sense of sorrow and extends 7
its sincere condolences to the family, friends, and community of Tristan Markese York 8
Brown on the sad occasion of his passing. 9
Section 2. When the S enate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and 10
honor of Tristan Markese York Brown. 11
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 12
Resolution to Senator Jared Carpenter for presentation to the family. 13
