A RESOLUTION honoring 100 years of Shriners Children's Lexington. 1
WHEREAS, the first Shriner's Hospitals for Children in Lexington, Kentucky 2
opened on November 1, 1926; and 3
WHEREAS, Shriners Children's Lexington provides healthcare to pediatric patients 4
regardless of a family's ability to pay; and 5
WHEREAS, Shriners Children's Lexington provides specialty pediatric care for 6
over 16,000 patients from Kentucky and across the region; and 7
WHEREAS, Shriners Children's Lexington has regularly been ranked in the top 50 8
medical centers in the United States for pediatric orthopedic care; and 9
WHEREAS, Shriners Children's Lexington strives to offer unique experiences to its 10
pediatric patients to make the facility feel less like a hospital; and 11
WHEREAS, 2026 marks 100 years of care provided by Shriners Children's 12
Lexington; and 13
WHEREAS, Shriners Children's Lexington is celebrating 100 years of care with a 14
birthday bash event in June and a Century of Care Gala in November; 15
NOW, THEREFORE, 16
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 17
Kentucky: 18
Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby honor Shriners Children's 19
Lexington for 100 years of care to the children and families of Kentucky and the 20
surrounding region. 21
Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transm it a copy of this 22
Resolution to Senator Reginald Thomas for delivery. 23
