A RESOLUTION honoring the extraordinary life and centennial milestone of 1
Geraldine "Bubby" Litvin Shaffer. 2
WHEREAS, on October 28, 2025, Geraldine ‘‘Bubby’’ Litvi n Shaffer celebrated 3
her 100th birthday with a gala event at the Marriott East Hotel in Louisville. She was 4
joined by nearly 100 descendants and many community members; and 5
WHEREAS, in honor of her birthday, Geraldine received congratulation letters 6
from P resident Trump, United States Senator Mitch McConnell, United States 7
Representative Morgan McGarvey, Governor Andy Beshear, and Louisville Mayor Craig 8
Greenberg. Her life achievements were read into the Congressional Record by Rep. 9
Morgan McGarvey. Now, it is only fitting that she also be recognized by this honorable 10
body; and 11
WHEREAS, born in 1925, Geraldine has lived a life centered on faith, service, and 12
love for her family. Together with her beloved husband, Louis Shlomo Leib Litvin, she 13
raised five chi ldren, and today, she is the proud grandmother to over 100 grandchildren 14
and great-grandchildren, including Jewish leaders in America, Cyprus, and Israel; and 15
WHEREAS, Geraldine’s devotion to her family is equaled only by her commitment 16
to her community. I n Boston, she distinguished herself as both an entrepreneur and 17
education activist. While running a shoe store, she also headed the board of a Jewish 18
school, working tirelessly for its success; and 19
WHEREAS, in recent years, Geraldine has made her home in K entucky, where she 20
became a matriarch for her entire community. Known for her kindness and generosity, 21
she volunteers her time and reaches out to all with warmth and care; and 22
WHEREAS, Geraldine is a dedicated student of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi 23
Menachem Mendel Schneerson, and is a devout Jew and incredibly proud American; and 24
WHEREAS, Geraldine ‘‘Bubby’’ Litvin Shaffer’s century of life stands as a 25
remarkable testament to her resilience, faith, and love for others; 26

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 1
Kentucky: 2
Section 1. The members of the Senate honor the extraordinary life and 3
centennial milestone of Geraldine "Bubby" Litvin Shaffer and wish her continued joy 4
surrounded by family and community. 5
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns t his day, it does so in honor and 6
recognition of Geraldine "Bubby" Litvin Shaffer's 100th birthday. 7
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 8
Resolution to Senator Karen Berg for presentation. 9
