A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Myra 1
Friend-Ellis. 2
WHEREAS, Myra Friend -Ellis was born on August 6, 1947, in Chattanooga, 3
Tennessee, and spent much of her life in Kentucky, including her later years in West 4
Louisville; and 5
WHEREAS, Myra Friend -Ellis was a dedicated professional, devoting decades of 6
her life to social service, politics, and education, where she was known for her strong 7
work ethic, reliability, and compassion; and 8
WHEREAS, Myra Friend -Ellis was not only a committed worker but a mentor to 9
many, especially those entering politics and community-based endeavors; and 10
WHEREAS, Myra Friend -Ellis generously shared her wisdom, en couraged 11
leadership grounded in integrity, and guided others with patience and care; and 12
WHEREAS, Myra Friend -Ellis was deeply family -oriented and is survived by her 13
beloved godchildren, Johni Ison and Erin Halvorson, and a large family of cousins and 14
loved ones who cherished her presence and guidance; 15
NOW, THEREFORE, 16
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 17
Kentucky: 18
Section 1. The Senate extends its deepest sympathy upon the passing of Myra 19
Friend-Ellis, and expresses heartfelt condolences to all her family, friends, and 20
community. 21
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so i n honor and loving 22
memory of Myra Friend-Ellis. 23
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 24
Resolution to Senator Gerald A. Neal for delivery. 25
