A RESOLUTION honoring and congratulating longtime WKYT photojournalist 1
Ray Brown on his forthcoming retirement. 2
WHEREAS, Ray Brown has been a steady and talented presence at WKYT for over 3
44 years and has crafted some of the biggest news stories in the Commonwealth's history; 4
and 5
WHEREAS, Ray Brown began his career in production where he lit and shot 6
promos and commercials by himself until moving into covering brea king news in the 7
Commonwealth; and 8
WHEREAS, Ray Brown's drive and attentive nature have become widely 9
recognized in his productions for their strong audio, natural sound, and striking visuals; 10
and 11
WHEREAS, Ray Brown has visited every SEC basketball and foo tball venue, 12
operated cameras at Rupp Arena, encountered presidents, celebrities, and people from all 13
walks of life; and 14
WHEREAS, in recognition of his outstanding achievements as a photojournalist, 15
Ray Brown has been awarded four Emmy awards, an Edward R. Murrow Award, and an 16
Eclipse Award with legendary University of Kentucky announcer Cawood Ledford; and 17
WHEREAS, Ray Brown's sense of humor, practicality, and improvisational skills 18
have been a fixture around the Commonwealth. Outside of work he’s compete d in 19
ballroom dancing, speaks some Mandarin, and has stories to tell from an extraordinary 20

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 23
Kentucky: 24
Section 1. The Senate hereby recognizes and congratulates Ray Brown on his 25
retirement after 44 years of photojournalism and service to the viewers of WKYT and the 26
Commonwealth of Kentucky. 27
