A RESOLUTION honoring cancer patients, survivors, and their families, 1
remembering those who have been lost to cancer, and declaring Thursday, January 29, 2
2026, as Suits and Sneakers Day in the Senate. 3
WHEREAS, Suits and Sneakers is a collaboration between the American Cancer 4
Society and the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network that leverages the 5
personal experiences, community leadership, and professional ex cellence of coaches 6
nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year -round 7
awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs; and 8
WHEREAS, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network empowers 9
advocates across the Commonwealth to make their voices heard and influence evidence -10
based public policy change and investment policies that will reduce the cancer burden on 11
Kentuckians; and 12
WHEREAS, it is estimated that more than 31,000 Kentucky residents will be 13
diagnosed with cancer in 2026; and 14
WHEREAS, cancer patients face countless challenges associated with their 15
diagnoses, including physical, emotional, financial, and day -to-day challenges, and it is 16
more important than ever to support efforts to combat cancer; and 17
WHEREAS, not only will effective policies, practices, and funding investments to 18
prevent, detect, and treat cancer, along with advances made through research, save 19
countless lives, they will significantly reduce the emotional and financial strain cance r 20
places on Kentuckians and the Commonwealth; and 21
WHEREAS, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network would like to 22
recognize everyone impacted by cancer; 23
NOW, THEREFORE, 24
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 25
Kentucky: 26
Section 1. The Senate honors cancer patients, survivors, their families, 27

Section 2. This honorable body declares Thursday, January 29, 2026, to be 2

Resolution to Senator Amanda Mays Bledsoe for delivery. 5
