A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory Val A. "Bud" 1
Lederer. 2
WHEREAS, Val A. "Bud" Lederer, was born on May 29, 1937, in Dayton, 3
Kentucky, to the late Robert and Mildred Lederer; and 4
WHEREAS, Val A. "Bud" Lederer served our country for six years in the United 5
States Navy on the USS Ticonderoga and the USS Casa Grande; and 6
WHEREAS, in 1958, Val A. "Bud" Lederer became a dedicated member of the 7
Alexandria Fire Department where he served for 65 years; and 8
WHEREAS, Val A. "Bud" Lederer demonstrated his leadership abilities, and he 9
was quickly recognized and awarded the rank of Lieutenant in charge of EMS, Captain, 10
and Assistant Chief before his el ection as Fire Chief in 1974, a role in which he served 11
for 18 years; and 12
WHEREAS, Val A. "Bud" Lederer continued to show a commitment to the 13
firefighting community by membership on numerous committees and subsequent 14
chairmanship within the Kentucky Firefighters Association. He was appointed as the first 15
Kentucky Firefighters Association's Director representing the Northern Kentucky Region 16
in 1993, helping and inspiring generations of firefighters for the next 22 years; and 17
WHEREAS, Val A. "Bud" Lederer wa s a loving husband to his wife, Wanda 18
Lederer, and they celebrated 59 years of wedded bliss. He and Wanda were the parents of 19
a cherished daughter, Robbin Lederer See; and 20
WHEREAS, Val A. "Bud" Lederer was preceded in death by his wife and two 21
brothers, Ro bert and Gary Lederer, and he is survived by his other brother, Donald 22
Lederer; daughter, Robbin Lederer See; two grandchildren, Jamie (Evan) Roth and Jake 23
See; and many extended family members and friends; and 24
WHEREAS, Val A. "Bud" Lederer's dedication, leadership, and unwavering 25
commitment to his family, his community, and the fire service will never be forgotten; 26
NOW, THEREFORE, 27

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 1
Kentucky: 2
Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby express their most profound 3
sympathy upon the passing of Val A. "Bud" Lederer. 4
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving 5
memory of Val A. "Bud" Lederer. 6
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 7
Resolution to Senator Shelley Funke Frommeyer for delivery to the family. 8
