A RESOLUTION honoring Father Patrick McDowell on the occasion of his 1
ordination into the priesthood. 2
WHEREAS, Father Patrick McDowell's home parish is the Basilica of St. J oseph 3
Proto-Cathedral in Bardstown, Kentucky, where he has attended since childhood; and 4
WHEREAS, Father Patrick McDowell is a graduate of St. Joseph School and 5
Bethlehem High School in Bardstown, Kentucky; and 6
WHEREAS, while at St. Joseph, Father Patrick McDowell started his quest of 7
understanding the priesthood; and 8
WHEREAS, Father Patrick McDowell attended seminary at Theological College at 9
the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.; and 10
WHEREAS, before Father Patrick McDowell joined the priesthood, he flew to Italy 11
to experience the conclave process in person and witness the announcement of Pope Leo 12
XIV as the next leader of the Roman Catholic Church; and 13
WHEREAS, on May 31, 2025, Father Patrick McDowell was ordained as a priest at 14
the Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville; and 15
WHEREAS, Father Patrick McDowell will serve as an associate pastor at St. James 16
Catholic Church in Elizabethtown, Kentucky; 17
NOW, THEREFORE, 18
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 19
Kentucky: 20
Section 1. The Senate hereby honors Father Patrick McDowell on the occasion 21
of his ordination into the priesthood. 22
Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 23
Resolution to Senator Jimmy Higdon for delivery. 24
