A RESOLUTION honoring and commending Rebecca Harilson for her decades of 1
distinguished service to the Kentucky State Senate and the Legislative Research 2
Commission. 3
WHEREAS, Rebecca (Becky) Harilson began her illustrious career with the 4
General Assembly on May 1, 1989, when she was hired by former Senate Minority 5
Leader Jack Trevey and first demonstrated the leadership abilities that would define her 6
tenure in the Capitol; and 7
WHEREAS, her sharp intellect and work ethic led her to serve as Chief of Staff to 8
former Senate Minority Leader Dan Kelly; and 9
WHEREAS, from 1999 to 2000, Becky Harilson played a foundational role in the 10
Senate's history by overseeing a critical staffing transition for the Senate Majority Caucus 11
under the leadership of former Senate President David Williams; and 12
WHEREAS, during her more than 30 years of service to the Senate, Becky Harilson 13
would become the cornerstone of the Senate's operations . Under her leadership as Chief 14
of Staff to Senate President Robert Stivers, she skillfully oversaw all administrative 15
functions of the Office of the Senate President and coordinated the full breadth of Senate 16
processes, guiding the Senate Republican Caucu s through a period of remarkable growth 17
– from an initial team of three, to five, and ultimately to a staff of 24 members; and 18
WHEREAS, as the trusted advisor to the Senate President, Becky Harilson 19
navigated complex policy debates and strategic redistrict ing efforts, ensuring the stable 20
and effective functioning of the Senate Majority; and 21
WHEREAS, as a testament to her commitment to serving the legislature, in 2015, 22
2018, and 2019, Becky Harilson answered the call to serve as Acting Co -Director of the 23
Legislative Research Commission, providing a steady hand and vital institutional 24
knowledge during a period of significant transition; and 25
WHEREAS, Becky Harilson, through her years of dedicated service, has 26
exemplified professionalism, integrity, and a steadf ast commitment to excellence in all 27

her endeavors; and 1
WHEREAS, Becky Harilson's contributions have left a lasting and meaningful 2
impact on her colleagues, community, the legislative branch, the institution of the Senate, 3
the Republican Party of Kentucky, and all of those fortunate enough to work alongside 4
her; and 5
WHEREAS, as Becky Harilson prepares to enter retirement, she looks forward to 6
spending more time with her loving and supportive husband of over 50 years, Bill 7
Harilson, as well as her children, Richard, Michael, Noel, and Tasha, and her beloved 8
grandchildren, Ella, Campbell, and Preston; and 9
WHEREAS, as Becky Harilson embarks upon a well -earned retirement, it is fitting 10
that the Senate pause to recognize her distinguished career and extend its sincere 11
appreciation for her service and wish her happiness, good health, and fulfillment as she 12
enters the next chapter of her life; 13
NOW, THEREFORE, 14
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 15
Kentucky: 16
Section 1. The Senate does hereby honor Becky Harilson for her extraordinary 17
career and expresses its profound gratitude for her decades of service, leadership, and 18
mentorship within the halls of the Kentucky State Capitol. 19
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Becky 20
Harilson. 21
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 22
Resolution to Becky Harilson. 23
