A RESOLUTION recognizing The Links, Incorporated Day at the State Capitol. 1
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is a highly regarded international nonprofit 2
organization dedicated to unity, friendship, and service; and 3
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated was established in 1946 and has since grown 4
to a current membership of 17,000 professional women of color in 299 chapters located 5
in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United 6
Kingdom; and 7
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is one of the nation’s oldest and largest 8
volunteer service organizations, consisting of extraordinary women of color who are 9
committed to the economic and cultur al enrichment of African Americans and other 10
persons of African descent; and 11
WHEREAS, the members of The Links, Incorporated are influential leaders and 12
decision makers and include many distinguished women who have made a positive 13
impact on their communiti es and the world, including business and civic leaders, 14
mentors, activists, and volunteers; and 15
WHEREAS, members contribute more than one million documented hours of 16
community service annually, strengthening their communities and enhancing civic life 17
across the United States; and 18
WHEREAS, notable members of The Links, Incorporated include the 49th Vice 19
President of the United States, Kamala Harris; the civil rights leader and Children’s 20
Defense Fund founder, Marian Wright Edelman; and the first African Amer ican female 21
president of historically Black Spelman College, Johnetta Betsch Cole; and 22
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated has received awards from the United Nations 23
Association of New York and the Leon H. Sullivan Foundation in recognition of its 24
premier programs; and 25
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated has promoted civic engagement in state -level 26
politics and government, engaging with people of color serving as leaders and elected 27

officials in both the Democratic and Republican Parties of Kentucky; and 1
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated continues to be a vital institution and a pillar 2
of this great Nation and the Commonwealth; 3
NOW, THEREFORE, 4
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 5
Kentucky: 6
Section 1. The Senate recognizes The Links, Incorporated Day at the State 7
Capitol, February 26, 2026, and welcomes the members of the Kentucky chapters of this 8
national organization who are visiting the Capitol today. 9
Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 10
Resolution to Senator Gerald Neal for presentation. 11
