A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of the service of Anthony S. 1
"Tony" Campbell, former President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of East Kentucky 2
Power Cooperative (EKPC). 3
WHEREAS, Tony Campbell served with distinction as the President and CEO of 4
EKPC from June 2009 to December 2025; and 5
WHEREAS, over the past 16 years under his leadership, even as EKPC's system 6
energy needs grew by more than 20 percent, EKPC continued to provide safe, reliable, 7
and affordable electric through 16 distribution cooperatives that serve over 1.1 million 8
Kentucky residents, as well as farms, businesses, and large industrial sites in 89 counties 9
across the Commonwealth; and 10
WHEREAS, under Tony Campbell's leadership, EKPC's board and management 11
pursued projects to ensure long -term reliable, competitively priced power for 12
Kentuckians by adding a 745 megawatt natural gas combined cycle unit at Copper 13
Station, building the 214 megaw att Liberty Station in Casey County featuring 14
reciprocating internal combustion engine units, and co -firing units to use both coal and 15
natural gas; and 16
WHEREAS, Tony Campbell additionally placed EKPC on a strong path to financial 17
strength and stability, bu ilding member's equity, and saving EKPC's owner -members 18
significant cost-increases while maintaining long-term reliability; and 19
WHEREAS, in 2013, Tony Campbell reinforced EKPC's energy reliability and 20
affordability through its membership with the Pennsylva nia-New Jersey -Maryland 21
Interconnection, a regional transmission organization that coordinates the movement of 22
wholesale electricity across 13 states and the District of Columbia, to garner the full 23
value of its generation and transmission fleet; and 24
WHEREAS, Tony Campbell is a trusted leader within the energy generation and 25
transmission industry, using his voice to amplify the message that we need dependable 26
generation to keep us strong and safe, alongside the voice of United States President 27

Donald Trump who has signed a number of executive orders aimed at boosting grid 1
security, electric reliability, and affordability, and adopting more realistic regulations on 2
coal plants; and 3
WHEREAS, Tony Campbell has been an important leader in Kentucky's energy 4
industry by encouraging EKPC's 16 owner -member electric cooperatives to move 5
"Boldly Forward"; 6
NOW, THEREFORE, 7
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of 8
Kentucky: 9
Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby express their utmost appreciation 10
for Anthony S. "Tony" Campbell's service to the Commonwealth. 11
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of the service 12
of Anthony S. "Tony" Campbell. 13
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this 14
Resolution to Senate President Robert Stivers for delivery to East Kentucky Power 15
Cooperative. 16
