CRIME: Creates the crime of felony speeding
1 AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 14:99.3, relative to offenses affecting the public safety; to create the crime of
3 felony speeding; to provide for penalties; and to provide for related matters.
4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
5 Section 1. R.S. 14:99.3 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
6 §99.3. Felony speeding
7 A. Felony speeding is the operation of a motor vehicle when the speed of the
8 vehicle exceeds the posted speed limit by at least thirty miles per hour.
9 B. Whoever commits the crime of felony speeding shall be fined not less
10 than one thousand dollars or imprisoned with or without hard labor for not less than
11 six months, or both.
