DISTRICTS/TAXING: Provides relative to the Walnut Street Special District in the city of
Monroe
1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 33:9038.69(B), relative to the city of Monroe; to provide relative
3 to the Walnut Street Special District; to provide relative to the boundaries of the
4 district; and to provide for related matters.
5 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published
6 as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of
7 Louisiana.
8 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
9 Section 1. R.S. 33:9038.69(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
10 §9038.69. Walnut Street Special District

12 B. Boundaries.(1) The district shall be comprised of the area of the city of
13 Monroe in the blocks of 108-128 Walnut Street in the city of Monroe to Art Alley
14 (2nd Street), an area of approximately one city block which shall be further defined
15 by an ordinance of the board of commissioners of the district.
16 (2) Notwithstanding the provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, the
17 district shall also be comprised of the area of the city of Monroe as follows: 210-220
18 Desiard Street, 233 South Grand Street, and 103/105 Wood Street.

Abstract: Makes changes to the boundaries of the Walnut Street Special District in the city
of Monroe.
Present law creates the Walnut Street Special District in the city of Monroe as a special
district and political subdivision of the state to provide for cooperative economic
development between the district, the city of Monroe, and the owner or owners of businesses
and other property within the district in order to provide for costs related to infrastructure
within the district as determined by the board of commissioners of the district. Provides for
the governance and powers and duties of the district.
Proposed law retains present law.
Present law provides for the district's boundaries.
Proposed law expands the district's boundaries.
