LEGISLATION/BILLS: Requires the legislature to make available on its website copies of
legislative instruments and unofficial engrossed versions of instruments for proposed
amendments
1 AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 24:13.1, relative to legislative instruments; to require a copy of each
3 legislative instrument prefiled or introduced to be made available through the
4 website of the Legislature of Louisiana; to require an unofficial engrossed version
5 of a legislative instrument for each set of proposed amendments; to require the
6 unofficial engrossed version of the instrument to immediately be made available on
7 the website of the Legislature of Louisiana; and to provide for related matters.
8 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
9 Section 1. R.S. 24:13.1 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
10 §13.1. Publication of copies of legislative instruments; proposed amendments;
11 unofficial engrossment; failure to comply
12 A. A copy of each legislative instrument prefiled with the Clerk of the House
13 or the Secretary of the Senate or introduced in either house shall be made available
14 through the website of Legislature of Louisiana.
15 B. For each amendment set proposed to a legislative instrument that is made
16 available through the website of the Legislature of Louisiana an unofficial engrossed
17 version of the instrument that includes the proposed amendments shall immediately
18 be made available through the website of the Legislature of Louisiana when the
19 amendment set is made available through the website of the Legislature of Louisiana.

1 C. The failure to make a copy of each legislative instrument or an unofficial
2 engrossment available through the website of the Legislature of Louisiana as
3 required by this Section due to a technological failure beyond the control of the
4 legislature or beyond its ability to resolve timely is not a violation of the provisions
5 of this Section.

Proposed law requires a copy of each legislative instrument prefiled with the Clerk of the
House or the Secretary of the Senate or introduced in either house to be made available
through the legislature's website.
Proposed law requires that for each amendment set proposed to a legislative instrument that
is made available through the legislature's website an unofficial engrossed version of the
instrument that includes the proposed amendments shall immediately be made available
through the legislature's website.
Proposed law provides that a failure to comply with the provisions of proposed law due to
a technical failure or a failure beyond the control of the legislature is not a violation of
proposed law.
