PESTICIDES/HERBICIDES: Provides relative to the registration of pesticides
1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 3:3221(B)(3)(f), relative to registration of pesticides; to require
3 certain warning or caution statements on the labeling of pesticides; to require that all
4 warnings or caution statements on the pesticide match the safety warnings on the
5 United States Environmental Protection Agency-registered product label; and to
6 provide for related matters.
7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1. R.S. 3:3221(B)(3)(f) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
9 §3221. Registration of pesticides

11 B. Each application for the initial registration of a pesticide and for the
12 re-registration of a pesticide for which the label has been changed shall be
13 accompanied by the following information:

15 (3) Two complete copies of the labeling of the pesticide, containing:

17 (f) Directions for the use of the pesticide, including warnings or caution
18 statements. Warnings or caution statements shall not vary in material respects from
19 the warnings or caution statements on the product label that is registered with the
20 United States Environmental Protection Agency.

Abstract: Requires that all warnings and caution statements on the pesticide match exactly
the safety warnings on the United States Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA)-registered product label and not be changed in any significant way.
Present law requires that each application for initial registration or re-registration of a
pesticide with a changed label include two complete copies of the pesticide labeling,
including directions for use and all warnings or caution statements.
Proposed law retains present law and further requires that all warnings or caution statements
match the EPA-registered product label and not be materially altered.
