ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Provides relative to the Major Events Incentive Program
1 AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 51:1260(C)(5)(hh) and (ii), relative to the Major Events Incentive Program;
3 to provide for qualifying major events; and to provide for related matters.
4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
5 Section 1. R.S. 51:1260(C)(5)(hh) and (ii) are hereby enacted to read as follows:
6 §1260. Major Events Incentive Fund; Major Events Incentive Program

8 C. As used in this Section, the following terms have the following meanings:

10 (5) "Qualified major event" means any event, and any activities related to or
11 associated with the event, including but not limited to the following:

13 (hh) The French Quarter Festival
14 (ii) The Fried Chicken Festival

Abstract: Expands eligibility of the Major Events Incentive Program to include the French
Quarter Festival and the Fried Chicken Festival.
Present law creates the Major Events Incentive Program to fund qualified major events.
Present law establishes the Major Events Incentive Fund as a source of funding for the
program and provides for administration by La. Economic Development.
Present law defines a qualified major event as one of the events listed in present law,
including but not limited to the Essence Festival, the State Fair of La., and the Boots on the
Bayou music festival, as well as any activities related to or associated with the event.
Proposed law retains present law and adds the French Quarter Festival and the Fried Chicken
Festival to the list of qualified major events eligible for the Major Events Incentive Program.
