1 AN ACT
2 To enact Chapter 18 of Title 33 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, to be comprised
3 of R.S. 33:7151, relative to Cameron Parish; to authorize the creation of a local
4 insurance program; to provide relative to the administration and management of the
5 program; to provide relative to program eligibility; to authorize the creation of a
6 local insurance fund; and to provide for related matters.
7 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published
8 as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of
9 Louisiana.
10 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
11 Section 1. Chapter 18 of Title 33 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950,
12 comprised of R.S. 33:7151, is hereby enacted to read as follows:
13 CHAPTER 18. LOCAL INSURANCE PROGRAM; CAMERON PARISH
14 §7151. Local insurance program; Cameron Parish; creation
15 A. The governing authority of the parish of Cameron may establish, by
16 ordinance, a local insurance program, referred to in this Section as the "program",
17 to assist homeowners who reside within the parish with offsetting homeowners' and
18 flood insurance costs. The ordinance establishing the program shall provide for the
19 administration and management of the program. The ordinance shall also provide
20 for the adoption of rules and regulations to establish eligibility criteria to determine
21 which homeowners qualify for program assistance.
22 B. The parish governing authority may establish, by ordinance, a local
23 insurance fund to provide funding for the program. The parish governing authority

1 may appropriate local parish funds to the local insurance fund. The parish governing
2 authority may also solicit and accept voluntary contributions and grants to carry out
3 the purposes of the program.
4 C. The program shall be modified or repealed as provided in the ordinance
5 establishing the program. If the program ceases to exist, all funds shall be
6 transferred to the general fund of the parish of Cameron.
