1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 11:1651(C) and (D) and to enact R.S. 11:1651(E), relative to the
3 District Attorneys' Retirement System; to provide relative to the board of trustees;
4 to provide for the election of trustees; to provide for terms of office; to provide for
5 vacancies; and to provide for related matters.
6 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published
7 as provided by Article X, Section 29(C) of the Constitution
8 of Louisiana.
9 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
10 Section 1. R.S. 11:1651(C) and (D) are hereby amended and reenacted and R.S.
11 11:1651(E) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
12 §1651. Board of trustees; membership; elections; vacancies; compensation

14 C.(1) The terms of the trustee serving as the retired assistant district attorney
15 and the trustee assigned to Division B as of January 1, 2026, shall expire on
16 August 14, 2027, and their successors shall be elected for a term of five years
17 commencing August 15, 2027.
18 (2) The terms of the trustees assigned to Division C and Division D as of
19 January 1, 2026, shall expire on August 14, 2029, and their successors shall be
20 elected for a term of five years, commencing on August 15, 2029.

1 (3) The terms of the trustees assigned to Division A and Division E as of
2 January 1, 2026, shall expire on August 14, 2030, and their successors shall be
3 elected for a term of five years, commencing on August 15, 2030.
4 (4) The terms of the trustee serving as the retired district attorney and the
5 trustee assigned to Division F as of January 1, 2026, shall expire on August 14, 2031,
6 and their successors shall be elected for a term of five years, commencing on
7 August 15, 2031.
8 D.(1) If a vacancy occurs in the office of a trustee, the vacancy shall be filled
9 for the unexpired term in the same manner as the office was previously filled.
10 (2) Notwithstanding the provisions of Paragraph (1) of this Subsection, if a
11 vacancy occurs in the office of an elected trustee and the unexpired term is less than
12 two years, the board shall fill the vacancy by appointment within ninety days, for the
13 remainder of the unexpired term.
14 D. E. The trustees shall receive for attendance at meetings of the board a per
15 diem of seventy-five dollars per day plus the normal expense allowance allowed state
16 employees by the division of administration, provided funds are available for this
17 purpose.
