2 To amend and reenact Code of Civil Procedure Article 253(B)(2) and Code of Criminal
3 Procedure Article 14.1(B), relative to court filings; to permit filings on letter size
4 paper; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. Code of Civil Procedure Article 253(B)(2) is hereby amended and
7 reenacted to read as follows:
8 Art. 253. Pleadings, documents, and exhibits to be filed with clerk

12 (2) On and after January 1, 2026, all filings as provided in Paragraph A of
13 this Article and all other provisions of this Chapter filed by an attorney shall only be
14 filed in person in paper form or transmitted electronically in accordance with a
15 system established by a clerk of court or by Louisiana Clerks' Remote Access
16 Authority. Any pleading or document filed electronically or in paper form is
17 acceptable on legal or letter size paper. The filer shall be responsible for ensuring
18 that private information is not included in filings. No filing shall include the first
19 five digits of any social security number, tax identification numbers number, state

1 identification numbers number, driver's license numbers number, financial account
2 numbers number, full dates of birth, or any information protected from disclosure by
3 state or federal law. The clerk of court shall adopt a system for the electronic filing
4 and storage of any pleading, document, or exhibit filed with a pleading. A pleading
5 or document filed electronically is deemed filed on the date and time stated on the
6 confirmation of electronic filing sent from the system, if the clerk of court accepts
7 the electronic filing. Public access to electronically filed pleadings and documents
8 shall be in accordance with the rules governing access to paper filings.

15 other provisions of this Code filed by an attorney shall only be filed in person in
16 paper form or transmitted electronically in accordance with a system established by
17 a clerk of court or by the Louisiana Clerks' Remote Access Authority. Any pleading
18 or document filed electronically or in paper form is acceptable on legal or letter size
19 paper. The filer shall be responsible for ensuring that private information is not
20 included in filings. No filing shall include the first five digits of any social security
21 number, tax identification numbers number, state identification numbers number,
22 driver's license numbers number, financial account numbers number, full dates of
23 birth, or any information protected from disclosure by state or federal law. The clerk
24 of court shall adopt a system for the electronic filing and storage of any pleading,
25 document, or exhibit other than those documents or exhibits introduced and filed at
26 a hearing or trial. Furthermore, in a court that accepts electronic filings in
27 accordance with this Paragraph, the official record shall be the electronic record. A
28 pleading or document filed electronically is deemed filed on the date and time stated
29 on the confirmation of electronic filing sent from the system, if the clerk of court
