1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 18:1314(E), relative to parish board commissioners; to provide
3 for the compensation of parish board commissioners; to provide for the amount of
4 compensation; to provide relative to approval of compensation by the secretary of
5 state; to provide for compensation during a recount; and to provide for related
6 matters.
7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1. R.S. 18:1314(E) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
9 §1314. Parish board commissioners

11 E. Compensation. A parish board commissioner who serves on election day
12 or during the counting and tabulating of provisional ballots or during a recount shall
13 receive fifty dollars or one hundred dollars or one hundred fifty dollars for each day
14 he serves as provided below:
15 (1) He shall receive one hundred fifty dollars for elections for which the
16 secretary of state has approved such compensation. The secretary of state may
17 provide such approval upon application by the parish board of election supervisors
18 when it is reasonably expected that a large number of persons will vote prior to
19 election day.
20 (2) He shall receive fifty one hundred dollars for elections other than those
21 provided for in Paragraphs Paragraph (1) and (3) of this Subsection.

1 (3) For an election held within one year following the date of the issuance
2 of any gubernatorial declaration of an emergency, upon application of the parish
3 board of election supervisors, the secretary of state may approve the payment of up
4 to one hundred dollars per election or each day of assistance, if applicable, as
5 compensation to each commissioner in addition to compensation otherwise provided
6 for in this Subsection.
