HOUSE BILL NO. 560

HOSPITALS: Provides relative to hospital service districts
1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 46:1052(introductory paragraph) and (5), relative to hospital
3 service districts; to provide for the objectives of the districts; and to provide for
4 related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 46:1052(5) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
7 §1052. Objects Objectives of the districts
8 The objects objectives and purposes of the hospital service districts and the
9 governing bodies created pursuant to the provisions of this Chapter shall be all of the
10 following:

12 (5) To cooperate with other public and private institutions, healthcare
13 facilities, and agencies engaged in providing hospital and other health services to
14 residents of the district.

Present law authorizes the police juries of parishes to form and create one or more hospital
service districts within the respective parishes.
Present law provides for the objects and purposes of the hospital service districts and their
governing bodies, including cooperating with other public and private institutions and
agencies engaged in providing hospital and other health services to residents of the district.
Proposed law adds cooperating with healthcare facilities that are engaged in providing
hospital and other health services to the residents of the district as an objective and purpose
of the district.
