WILDLIFE & FISHERIES CMN: (Constitutional Amendment) Provides relative to control
and supervision of the wildlife of the state
1 A JOINT RESOLUTION
2 Proposing to amend Article IX, Section 7(A) of the Constitution of Louisiana, to add an
3 exception to authority vested in the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission;
4 to provide for an exception to the control and supervision of the wildlife of the state
5 vested in the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission for the Animal
6 Rehabilitation Program; to provide for submission of the proposed amendment to the
7 electors; and to provide for related matters.
8 Section 1. Be it resolved by the Legislature of Louisiana, two-thirds of the members
9 elected to each house concurring, that there shall be submitted to the electors of the state of
10 Louisiana, for their approval or rejection in the manner provided by law, a proposal to
11 amend Article IX, Section 7(A) of the Constitution of Louisiana, to read as follows:
12 §7. Wildlife and Fisheries Commission
13 Section 7.(A) Members; Terms. The control and supervision of the wildlife
14 of the state, including all aquatic life, is vested in the Louisiana Wildlife and
15 Fisheries Commission with the exception of the Animal Rehabilitation Program.
16 The commission shall be in the executive branch and shall consist of seven members
17 appointed by the governor, subject to confirmation by the Senate. Six members shall
18 serve overlapping terms of six years, and one member shall serve a term concurrent
19 with that of the governor. Three members shall be electors of the coastal parishes
20 and representatives of the commercial fishing and fur industries, and four shall be

1 electors from the state at large other than representatives of the commercial fishing
2 and fur industries, as provided by law. No member who has served six years or more
3 shall be eligible for reappointment.

5 Section 2. Be it further resolved that this proposed amendment shall be submitted
6 to the electors of the state of Louisiana at the statewide election to be held on November 3,
7 2026.
8 Section 3. Be it further resolved that on the official ballot to be used at the election,
9 there shall be printed a proposition, upon which the electors of the state shall be permitted
10 to vote YES or NO, to amend the Constitution of Louisiana, which proposition shall read as
11 follows:
12 Do you support an amendment to add an exception to the control and
13 supervision of the wildlife of the state vested in the Louisiana Wildlife and
14 Fisheries Commission for the Animal Rehabilitation Program? (Amends
15 Article IX, Section 7(A))
