INSURANCE/HEALTH: Provides relative to insurance coverage for hearing aids
1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 22:1038(C)(1), relative to health insurance; to provide hearing
3 aid coverage for certain individuals; and to provide for related matters.
4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
5 Section 1. R.S. 22:1038(C)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
6 §§1038. Hearing aid coverage

8 C.(1) Notwithstanding the provisions of R.S. 22:1047 to the contrary, an
9 entity subject to this Section shall provide coverage for hearing aids for a child under
10 the age of eighteen an individual twenty-six years of age and under who is covered
11 under a policy or contract of insurance if the hearing aids are fitted and dispensed by
12 a licensed audiologist or licensed hearing aid specialist following medical clearance
13 by a physician licensed to practice medicine and an audiological evaluation
14 medically appropriate to the age of the child individual.
