FISHING/NETS: Establishes depth requirements for the commercial use of purse seines
1 AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 56:322(C)(6)(d), relative to use of purse seines; to limit the use of purse seines
3 to water of a certain depth; and to provide for related matters.
4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
5 Section 1. R.S. 56:322(C)(6)(d) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
6 §322. Seines or nets; size of mesh; classification as to salt or fresh water; crawfish

9 C. The following provisions shall apply to saltwater areas:

11 (6) Purse Seines.

13 (d) The use of purse seines shall only be permitted in water with a depth of
14 at least twenty-two feet.
