1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 17:3217(B)(1), relative to the Universities of Louisiana Maritime
3 Academy; to provide for the name of the program; and to provide for related matters.
4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
5 Section 1. R.S. 17:3217(B)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
6 §3217. University of Louisiana System

8 B.(1) A state maritime academy, the Universities of Louisiana Maritime
9 Academy at Nicholls State University, is hereby established for the purposes of
10 leveraging and coordinating existing maritime programs and facilities, providing for
11 the training of merchant marine officers, and providing for additional educational
12 pathways aligned with the workforce needs of the maritime industry.
