1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 47:532.1(A)(7)(c) and (C), relative to public license tag agents;
3 to increase the maximum convenience fee amount public license tag agents can
4 collect for providing information on the status of regulation privileges and to process
5 reinstatements of driving and vehicle registration privileges when revoked due to
6 failure to maintain or provide proof of compulsory vehicle liability security; to
7 provide for an increase in charges collected by public license tag agents; and to
8 provide for related matters.
9 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
10 Section 1. R.S. 47:532.1(A)(7)(c) and (C) are hereby amended and reenacted to read
11 as follows:

18 (c) Public license tag agents shall also be authorized to provide information
19 on the status of registration privileges and to process reinstatements of driving and
20 motor vehicle registration privileges when these privileges were revoked due to the
21 failure to maintain the compulsory motor vehicle liability security or the failure to
22 provide proof of such security. Public license tag agents shall be authorized to
23 collect a convenience charge not to exceed twenty-three twenty-seven dollars, to
24 provide information on the status of registration privileges and a charge not to
25 exceed twenty-three twenty-seven dollars per reinstatement, provided that the
26 charges are disclosed immediately to the consumer prior to the initiation of the

1 transaction and are posted in a conspicuous manner in the business office of the
2 public license tag agent.

4 C. Public license tag agents shall be authorized to collect a convenience
5 charge in addition to the registration license tax or other authorized fees, sales taxes,
6 and transactions. The convenience charge shall not exceed twenty-three twenty-
7 seven dollars per authorized transaction. However, the public license tag agents shall
8 collect and retain the full amount of the convenience charge. The seller is authorized
9 to collect the convenience charge authorized by this Subsection in connection with
10 any retail sale, in addition to the fees authorized in Chapter 10-B of Title 6 of the
11 Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950.
