2026 Regular Session
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 12
BY REPRESENTATIVE ZERINGUE
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To commend the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association on the occasion of
its one hundredth anniversary.
WHEREAS, 2026 marks the centennial of the American Shore and Beach
Preservation Association (ASBPA), which works to advance a science-guided approach to
coastal restoration and protection; and
WHEREAS, ASBPA was founded in 1926 by visionary leaders who sought to
establish a forum "where the novice and he who has long wrestled with these problems can
seek more light; where the man of science and the statesman can exchange ideas and
collaborate together; where the idealist and lover of Nature and the economist can arrive at
a mutual understanding; where landscape artist and philanthropist can find an outlet for their
activities," thereby fostering collaboration and innovation for coastal stewardship; and
WHEREAS, the critical issues of shore and beach preservation, including the
promotion of community protection, a strong economy, ecological health, and recreation,
remain as vital today as they were at founding of ASBPA; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's coastal communities and natural resources have benefitted
from ASBPA's efforts over the past century to translate coastal science and engineering,
guide policy, and advocate for resilient shores and beaches; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana aims to collaborate with ASBPA to build upon its century of
experience in coastal resilience and to advocate for solutions that adapt shore and beach
projects for future coastal challenges.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association on the occasion of its one
