HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 18
BY REPRESENTATIVES BERAULT AND GLORIOSO AND SENATOR OWEN
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To commend the Pope John Paul II Catholic High School Lady Jaguars Soccer Team on
winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2026 Division IV state
championship.
WHEREAS, it is most fitting to recognize the Pope John Paul II Catholic High
School Lady Jaguars Soccer Team for capturing the 2026 Division IV state title by defeating
Isidore Newman School in the championship match held at Strawberry Stadium in
Hammond, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Jaguars finished the 2025-2026 season with an outstanding
record of nineteen wins, two draws, and one loss and demonstrated incredible resilience,
skill, and teamwork in each match; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Jaguars remained composed in the state championship match
and claimed the title following a dramatic penalty shootout; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Jaguars are led by Head Coach Meaux Homburg and Assistant
Coaches Ben Riviere and Jason Schexnaydre; the team embraced a culture of winning
founded on dedication, accountability, and belief in one another, and its success is a true
reflection of the players' character and sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, the Pope John Paul II Catholic High School Lady Jaguars'
championship season stands as a testament to the importance of teamwork and perseverance
and the impact of family, school, and community support; the team is most deserving of the
highest recognition for their achievements, which will be remembered as a defining moment
in the school's athletics history.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the Pope John Paul II Catholic High School Lady Jaguars Soccer Team on
winning the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 2026 Division IV state
championship and does hereby encourage the members of the team to continue their
excellent work and always strive for greatness.
