HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 21

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To commend John Keith of AllState Land and Timber on being named Louisiana
Outstanding Logger of the Year.
WHEREAS, it is most fitting to recognize John Keith of AllState Land and Timber
in Haughton, Louisiana, for his commitment to safe and efficient logging practices; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana loggers are integral members of the forest community who
move timber from forest land to mills so that it can be processed into useful products;
without loggers, the forest industry would not exist, and Louisiana's forests would become
overgrown and unproductive; and
WHEREAS, logging is traditionally a family-centered industry that is made up of
small businesses that utilize family members in their operations; loggers contribute
significantly to their respective local economies by purchasing fuel and lubricants and
supporting charitable causes and community needs; and
WHEREAS, loggers face a number of variables, including inclement weather, market
volatility, equipment breakdowns, and labor issues, in their day-to-day operations; these
hurdles often lead to demanding work hours, and loggers rely on their family and faith to
push them through the day; and
WHEREAS, John Keith was selected by his peers as the representation of all that is
good about the logging industry; he has long provided the state's forest industry with a vital
service delivering timber to processing facilities, and he currently serves as president of the
Louisiana Logging Council; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Keith is highly regarded for his professionalism and use of
Louisiana's Forestry Best Management Practices, and his reputation for doing quality work
has placed him in high demand by timberland owners; he is truly most deserving of the
highest recognition for his incredible work.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend John Keith of AllState Land and Timber on being named Louisiana Outstanding
Logger of the Year; does hereby recognize his steadfast dedication and commitment to the
logging industry; and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for his tireless efforts
performing safe and efficient logging practices that benefit Louisiana's environment and
economy.
