HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 22
BY REPRESENTATIVES FIRMENT AND RISER AND SENATOR WOMACK
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To recognize W.H. Ward Properties, Inc., on being named Tree Farmer of the Year by the
Louisiana Forestry Association.
WHEREAS, the Ward family has owned a six hundred eighteen-acre tree farm in
LaSalle Parish, Louisiana, since 1915; and
WHEREAS, the cornerstones of W.H. Ward Properties, Inc., are timber, wildlife,
stewardship, and family; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Ward family have been dedicated to the stewardship
of their land for over a century, and they have adapted through the years with a shared vision
despite changes to timber markets and land management practices; and
WHEREAS, in addition to its significant impact on the area's economic development,
the company gives back to the community through the sponsorship of a yearly college
scholarship and the donation of materials to the local band of Choctaw Indians; and
WHEREAS, W.H. Ward Properties was named Tree Farmer of the Year by the
Louisiana Forestry Association; and
WHEREAS, on the memorable occasion of receiving this deserved recognition, W.H.
Ward Properties, Inc., merits a special measure of commendation for its success in tree farming
and its contributions to the state's forestry industry.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend W.H. Ward Properties, Inc., on its recognition by the Louisiana Forestry Association
as Tree Farmer of the Year and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride this
outstanding family business brings to LaSalle Parish and to the state of Louisiana.
