A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To commend Emile Myers on the success of his annual philanthropic endeavor, "Emile's
Hot Cocoa Fundraiser".
WHEREAS, Lafayette resident Emile Myers launched a small neighborhood hot
cocoa stand in 2019 at the age of eight, and the stand has evolved into a major community
fundraising tradition that is embraced by families across Acadiana; and
WHEREAS, over the past seven years, "Emile's Hot Cocoa Fundraiser" has grown
into a beloved annual holiday event; the stand has raised over one hundred thousand dollars
to benefit numerous local nonprofit organizations, including St. Joseph Diner, Boys & Girls
Club of Acadiana, Catholic Charities of Acadiana, American Cancer Society, Junior League
of Lafayette, and others; and
WHEREAS, Emile's kindhearted nature and leadership ability have inspired
widespread community participation and provided meaningful support to vulnerable
families, youth programs, cancer patients, and vital social service organizations; and
WHEREAS, Emile plans to pass his fundraiser on to the next generation of young
philanthropists, and he is committed to serving as a mentor to help the event continue to
grow, inspire service, and strengthen the spirit of generosity within the community for years
to come; and
WHEREAS, it is most fitting to recognize Emile Myers for his remarkable
compassion, leadership, and commitment to improving the lives of others and to honor him
for demonstrating the profound impact that the state's youth can have when they choose to
lead with their hearts.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Emile Myers on the success of his annual philanthropic endeavor, "Emile's Hot
Cocoa Fundraiser" and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for his lasting community
impact and continued legacy of youth-led service.
