A RESOLUTION
To designate Wednesday, March 11, 2026, as Funeral Directors Day at the capitol, to
recognize National Funeral Directors and Morticians Day, and to commend the
Louisiana Funeral Directors Association for the vital services provided by funeral
directors and morticians across the state of Louisiana.
WHEREAS, funeral directors and morticians provide compassionate care and
guidance to families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives and help them
honor the memory of loved ones with dignity and respect; and
WHEREAS, these dedicated professionals serve communities throughout Louisiana
by assisting families in making final arrangements, preserving cherished traditions, and
ensuring that memorial services are conducted with professionalism and reverence; and
WHEREAS, funeral directors and morticians also play an important role in public
health and safety by adhering to strict professional standards and regulations, maintaining
facilities, and providing services essential to the well-being of communities; and
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Funeral Directors Association has long worked to
promote excellence in funeral service through education, professional development, ethical
standards, and advocacy on behalf of funeral service professionals throughout Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, the association serves as a valuable resource for funeral homes,
directors, embalmers, and morticians by providing training, guidance, and support to ensure
the highest level of care for Louisiana families; and
WHEREAS, Funeral Directors Day at the capitol provides an opportunity to
recognize the contributions of funeral service professionals and highlight the important role
they play in communities across the state; and

WHEREAS, National Funeral Directors and Morticians Day further honors the
commitment, professionalism, and compassion demonstrated daily by these individuals who
serve families during times of loss; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives take great pride
in recognizing the men and women of the funeral service profession and expressing gratitude
for their dedication to serving the citizens of the state with care, integrity, and respect.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Wednesday, March 11, 2026, as Funeral
Directors Day at the capitol; does hereby recognize National Funeral Directors and
Morticians Day; does hereby commend the Louisiana Funeral Directors Association; and
does hereby extend sincere appreciation to funeral directors and morticians throughout the
state for their unwavering service to Louisiana families and communities.
