A RESOLUTION
To memorialize the United States Congress to take such actions as are necessary to pass the
SAVE America Act requiring voter identification in federal elections to protect
election integrity and public confidence in the democratic process.
WHEREAS, free, fair, and secure elections are the cornerstone of American
democracy and are essential to maintaining public trust in the electoral process; and
WHEREAS, the state of Louisiana currently requests voters to present a valid form
of identification prior to casting a ballot to ensure that elections are conducted with integrity
and accountability; and
WHEREAS, thirty-six states across the nation either request or require some form
of voter identification for in-person voting, which demonstrate that voter identification laws
are widely accepted and are constitutionally permissible safeguards; and
WHEREAS, documented cases of election fraud, illegal voting, and administrative
errors have occurred in various jurisdictions across the country, underscoring the need for
consistent national standards to deter unlawful practices and strengthen election security; and
WHEREAS, requiring voter identification helps prevent impersonation at the polls,
protects the lawful votes of eligible citizens, and reinforces confidence in election outcomes;
and
WHEREAS, inconsistent election laws among states create confusion for voters and
may undermine public trust in federal elections; and
