HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 21
BY REPRESENTATIVE DEVILLIER
A RESOLUTION
To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Sharon K.
Fontenot.
WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the House of
Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana has learned of the passing, on March 10,
2026, of Sharon K. Fontenot; and
WHEREAS, Sharon K. Fontenot was born on December 22, 1944, in Eunice,
Louisiana, to Kit and Joyce Fontenot; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Fontenot was an incredibly civic-minded woman who served as a
Eunice city councilwoman and as president of the Eunice Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Fontenot passionately supported Right to Life for fifty-three years
and received recognition for her dedicated service at the Bishop's Pro-Life Rose Dinner; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Fontenot served as the owner of Coastal Culvert prior to her
retirement; outside of her professional and civic duties, she enjoyed traveling, attending
daily mass, and watching LSU baseball games; her greatest love was spending time with her
family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Sharon K. Fontenot is survived by her son, Tommy Fontenot, Jr.
(Gwen); daughters, Angelle Manuel (Hayward) and Suzanne Mayer (Vern Johnson);
brothers, Gary Fontenot (Paula) and Kevin Fontenot (Pat); sister, Doris Brown (Bobby);
twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and a host of extended relatives and
friends; she will be deeply missed, but the legacy of her love and service to the community
shall live on in the hearts and minds of those who were privileged to have known her.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express heartfelt condolences on the death of Sharon
K. Fontenot; does hereby offer enduring appreciation for her service to the city of Eunice
and dedication to pro-life causes; and does hereby extend sincere wishes that her family,
friends, and loved ones find comfort in their shared memories of her beautiful life.
