A RESOLUTION
To commend Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Zeta Lambda Omega Chapter, on
the occasion of its one hundred eighteenth Founders' Day and seventy-first Charter
Day.
WHEREAS, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, was founded on January 15,
1908, on the campus of Howard University and is the oldest Greek-letter organization
established by African American college-educated women; and
WHEREAS, the Zeta Lambda Omega Chapter was chartered on February 26, 1955,
as the first graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; the chapter is
based in Rapides Parish and has served Central Louisiana for seventy-one years through
scholarships, youth mentoring, health outreach, senior support programs, and civic
engagement; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Zeta Lambda Omega Chapter continue to partner
with schools, nonprofit organizations, and civic leaders to strengthen educational
opportunities, wellness initiatives, and leadership development for residents of Louisiana;
and
WHEREAS, 2026 marks the celebration of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority's one
hundred-eighteenth Founders' Day and the Zeta Lambda Omega Chapter's seventy-first
Charter Day; and
WHEREAS, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and the Zeta Lambda
Omega Chapter are most deserving of the highest recognition for their decades of service
and community leadership.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated,
Zeta Lambda Omega Chapter, on the occasion of its one hundred eighteenth Founders' Day
and seventy-first Charter Day; does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the chapter's
longstanding service to the citizens of Rapides Parish and the state of Louisiana; and does
hereby extend sincere wishes for the continued success of its members in their mission of
service to all mankind.
