A RESOLUTION
To commend Wanda Theresa Anderson Davis for her professional accomplishments.
WHEREAS, Wanda Theresa Anderson Davis was born on July 31, 1959, to Louis
and Shirley Anderson and was raised on East 26th Street in Reserve, Louisiana; she
graduated from Leon Godchaux High School in 1977, earned a bachelor of arts degree in
broadcast journalism with a minor in history from Louisiana State University in 1981, and
completed a juris doctor degree and graduated cum laude from Southern University Law
Center in 1985; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Davis was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in 1985 and began
her legal career in Washington, D.C., serving as one of the twelve attorneys selected to
represent the United States Department of Labor; she returned to Louisiana to serve as in-
house counsel for the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority and focused her practice on
personal injury litigation and corporate law; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Davis joined the firm of Berrigan, Danielson, Litchfield, Olsen and
Schonekas, where she served as a trial attorney; in 1987, she joined the Law Offices of
Ronald Ronzello, where she concentrated her practice on personal injury, corporate, and
commercial litigation for nearly a decade and attained the status of senior trial attorney; and
WHEREAS, since November 2002, Wanda has worked in private practice as a
partner at Leefe, Gibbs, Sullivan and Dupré; she currently practices with a concentration on
defense litigation, corporate law, and commercial matters; and
WHEREAS, Wanda has argued cases before state and federal administrative courts,
Louisiana district and appellate courts, the Louisiana Supreme Court, United States district
courts, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals; and

WHEREAS, Wanda served as a Louisiana Supreme Court-appointed ad hoc judge
in the New Orleans Municipal Court from 2000 to 2004; she has served as a Disciplinary
Hearing Committee member since 1996; she was a member of the Louisiana Attorney
Disciplinary Board from 2003 to 2007 and served as the board president before rotating off
the board; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Davis has held numerous leadership roles in the legal profession,
including chair and vice chair of the Louisiana State Bar Association Minority Involvement
Committee, chair of the Louisiana Center for Legal and Civic Education, and president of
the A.P. Tureaud LSU Alumni Chapter; she served as president of the New Orleans
Association of Black Women Attorneys from 1990 to 1994 and is a member of the Louis
Martinet Legal Society; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Davis regularly teaches continuing legal education seminars and
has served as faculty for the National Business Institute and Sterling Education Services; she
has delivered presentations at programs hosted by the American Bar Association, the New
Orleans Bar Association, and Tulane University, and she has authored both legal and non-
legal published articles; and
WHEREAS, Wanda has an incredible sense of civic duty and a longstanding
commitment to community service; she has served on the Louisiana Civil Rights Museum
Advisory Board since 2019 and currently serves as the board's recording secretary; she has
been a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., since 1979 and has held numerous
leadership positions, including president of the Rho Pi Omega Chapter from 2011 to 2014
and chair of the Archives-History Committee from 2015 to 2020; she co-authored the
chapter's history book and currently serves as the co-chair of the Social Justice Committee;
and
WHEREAS, Wanda provides pro bono legal education to churches and community
organizations and has served in leadership and advisory roles with Scouting America, De La
Salle High School, Tea Time Etiquette Camp for Girls, and the First Tee Program; and
WHEREAS, Wanda is an active member of the Regular Baptist Church in Gretna,
Louisiana, where she has served as president and curator of the church's history ministry
since 2018; she led the research and development of the church's first history museum,

documenting its history from 1866 to present day, and she serves as a Sunday school teacher,
choir member, and participant in multiple church ministries; and
WHEREAS, Wanda has received numerous awards recognizing her professional
excellence and community service, including honors for more than thirteen years of service
to the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary System and more than forty years of service to Alpha
Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; she also has been recognized for her pro bono outreach to New
Orleans Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, Wanda is married to Charles Ray Davis, and she is the mother of
Rayanda and Devin and grandmother of Khalil; and
WHEREAS, Wanda Theresa Anderson Davis is an inspiring legal professional who
is most deserving of the highest recognition for her many achievements and for her
dedication to community service.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Wanda Theresa Anderson Davis for her
professional accomplishments; does hereby extend enduring appreciation for her dedication
to community service; and does hereby extend sincere wishes that she remain prosperous in
all of her endeavors.
