A RESOLUTION
To commend Colonel Joseph Musacchia, Jr., on the occasion of his retirement from the
United States Air Force.
WHEREAS, it is most fitting to recognize Colonel Joseph Musacchia, Jr., for his
dedication to the defense of the country's freedoms and to commend him on the occasion of
his retirement from the U.S. Air Force; and
WHEREAS, Col. Musacchia is a native of Tickfaw, Louisiana, and a 1988 graduate
of Independence High School; he attended Louisiana State University, where he completed
a bachelor of criminal justice degree, bachelor of arts degree in sociology with a minor in
political science, and a master of arts in sociology; he also received a master of strategic
studies from Air University; and
WHEREAS, Col. Musacchia entered the U.S. Air Force in 1996 as a distinguished
graduate of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment 310 at Louisiana State
University; and
WHEREAS, Col. Musacchia most recently served as an instructor of strategy at the
USAF Air War College, where he provided graduate-level education to senior military
officers, inter-agency civilians, and international military students; he guided a foundations
of strategy course with a focus on the historical dimensions of warfare, led planning and
execution for an international regional security studies seminar focused on global power
competition in the Arctic region, and assisted in the development of new course material and
elective courses; he also conducted research to support the Air War College's mission, wrote
publications, and supervised student research; and

WHEREAS, Col. Musacchia dedicated thirty years of active service in the U.S. Air
Force and participated in multiple wartime engagements, including service in Iraq, Oman,
the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey; he served in command positions on six occasions,
including group command and squadron command; and
WHEREAS, Col. Musacchia is a highly decorated military serviceman with
numerous medals and merits; he is a recipient of the Legion of Merit, Defense Superior
Service Medal, Bronze Star, Air Force Meritorious Service Medal with seven oak leaf
clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Achievement
Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Award, Air Force Outstanding Unit
Award with five oak leaf clusters, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, National
Defense Service Medal with device, Iraq Campaign Medal with device, Global War on
Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Nuclear
Deterrence Operations Service Medal with "N" device and three oak clusters; and
WHEREAS, Col. Musacchia is highly respected for his commitment to duty and
unparalleled sense of honor; he retires from service to return home with his wife, Teresa;
children, Magdaline, Joseph, and Anthony; and daughter-in-law Julienne; he is truly most
deserving of the highest recognition for his dedicated service to the United States.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Colonel Joseph Musacchia, Jr., on the
occasion of his retirement from the United States Air Force; does hereby extend enduring
appreciation for his dedication to the defense of American life and liberty; and does hereby
extend sincere wishes for his continued prosperity as he begins the next chapter in his life.
