SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Designates the week of March 23 through 27, 2026, as
Louisiana Agriculture Week at the state capitol and in the state of Louisiana and
commends the farmers, ranchers, and agribusiness leaders who participate in this
initiative
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To designate the week of March 23 through 27, 2026, as Louisiana Agriculture Week at the
3 state capitol and in the state of Louisiana and to commend the farmers, ranchers, and
4 agribusiness leaders who participate in this vital educational initiative.
5 WHEREAS, agriculture is the backbone of Louisiana's economy, contributing
6 billions of dollars annually and providing the essential food, fiber, and fuel that sustains our
7 citizens and drives our state's prosperity; and
8 WHEREAS, Louisiana Agriculture Week is dedicated to providing an opportunity
9 for citizens across the state to honor the essential role agriculture plays in providing food,
10 maintaining a strong economy, and driving innovation for a sustainable future and fostering
11 a deeper connection between consumers and the sources of their food, fuel, and fiber; and
12 WHEREAS, this week serves as a critical bridge between the field and the capitol,
13 allowing lawmakers and the public to gain firsthand insight into the daily operations,
14 technological advancements, and economic challenges faced by our agricultural community;
15 and
16 WHEREAS, this week provides a unique opportunity for legislators to walk the land,
17 visit with producers, and understand the direct impact of legislative decisions on the
18 sustainability of family farms and rural life; and
19 WHEREAS, the leadership of Representative Rhonda Gaye Butler as chairwoman
20 of the House Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Rural Development, in

1 collaboration with the valued members of the committee, continues to emphasize the
2 importance of "boots-on-the-ground" advocacy and the strengthening of personal
3 relationships between farmers and their elected officials; and
4 WHEREAS, fostering a deeper understanding of the labor and dedication required
5 to maintain Louisiana's diverse agricultural landscape, from timber and sugarcane to rice,
6 poultry, and crawfish, is essential for the development of sound public policy.
7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
8 Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate the week of March 23 though 27, 2026, as
9 Louisiana Agriculture Week at the state capitol and in the state of Louisiana and does hereby
10 commend the farmers, ranchers, and agribusiness leaders of this state for their participation
11 in this initiative and for their invaluable contributions to Louisiana's economy, food security,
12 and cultural heritage.
13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature
14 of Louisiana does hereby encourage all citizens and lawmakers to participate in activities
15 that celebrate and support the hardworking men and women of Louisiana agriculture.
16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
17 to the commissioner of agriculture and the president of the Louisiana Farm Bureau
18 Federation.
