HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 52

A RESOLUTION
To commend Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 550 and St. Bernard Parish
Government on the occasion of the annual Vietnam War Veterans Day
Commemoration Ceremony.
WHEREAS, Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) is the only national Vietnam
veterans organization that is congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to
Vietnam-era veterans and their families; and
WHEREAS, VVA has a national membership of over ninety-two thousand members
in over six hundred chapters throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin
Islands, Guam, and the Philippines; and
WHEREAS, VVA promotes and supports issues that are important to Vietnam
veterans, including full access to quality healthcare for veterans and comprehensive
accounting of American POWs and MIAs; the organization also strives to identify the full
range of disabling injuries and illnesses incurred during military service; and
WHEREAS, VVA strives for individual and group empowerment and local action
to assist veterans and other members of communities across the country; it facilitates
volunteer programs that offer unique and innovative services, including support for homeless
shelters, substance-abuse education projects, crime prevention campaigns, relief to other
communities affected by natural disasters and chronic poverty, and sponsorship of youth
sports, Scouts of America, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America; and
WHEREAS, VVA supports the next generation of American war veterans and strives
to ensure that those who serve the United States receive the care and respect owed to them;

WHEREAS, on Friday, March 27, 2026, VVA Chapter 550 and St. Bernard Parish
Government will host the annual Vietnam War Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony
at the Vietnam War Veterans Monument in Torres Park; and
WHEREAS, it is most fitting to honor all American servicemen and servicewomen,
especially those who served in Vietnam, and to give them the measure of respect owed to
those who defend our country's freedoms.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 550
and St. Bernard Parish Government on the occasion of the annual Vietnam War Veterans
Day Commemoration Ceremony and does hereby encourage all citizens to show support for
the courageous Americans who served in Vietnam.
