BY REPRESENTATIVES BEAULLIEU, BOUDREAUX, HEBERT, JACOB LANDRY,
SPELL, AND ST. BLANC
A RESOLUTION
To commend Gordie White for his commitment to waterfowl conservation through Ducks
Unlimited and the preservation of North America's wetlands and wildlife.
WHEREAS, Gordie White has long recognized the critical need for organized
conservation efforts in South Louisiana; his relationship with Ducks Unlimited began in
1970, when he became one of the organization's earliest sponsors in New Iberia, Louisiana;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. White teamed up with local hunters and founded the Ducks
Unlimited New Iberia chapter in 1972; the chapter began with a vision to unite local
sportsmen and conservationists, and over the course of more than five decades, its has grown
into one of the most impactful chapters in the region; and
WHEREAS, Mr. White served as the Louisiana state chairman of Ducks Unlimited
for two years, during which he worked to advance wetland conservation initiatives
throughout Louisiana and strengthen collaborative efforts among the state's chapters; during
his tenure as state chairman, he increased the visibility of the Ducks Unlimited mission and
secured critical support for habitat restoration projects that benefit waterfowl and the
wetland ecosystem; and
WHEREAS, the New Iberia chapter has made numerous innovative contributions to
the Ducks Unlimited fundraising efforts; the chapter established "The Ducklings", a group
of dedicated female volunteers who played a vital role at fundraising events aimed at
waterfowl conservation; the original group garnered statewide recognition for its effective
fundraising strategy, which motivated other local chapters to adopt the model; and

WHEREAS, The Ducklings concept has spread across the United States, and these
groups are now a fixture at Duck Unlimited fundraising events nationwide; and
WHEREAS, Mr. White is an established family law attorney, and he has balanced
his professional duties with his passion for conservation; he has made significant
contributions to the Ducks Unlimited cause through his ability to inspire others, build
coalitions, and move people to action; and
WHEREAS, outside of Mr. White's involvement in conservation meetings,
fundraisers, and habitat projects, he is passionate about sharing the hunting tradition with his
children and grandchildren; he holds a deeply personal connection to conservation and
believes that future generations of sportsmen deserve the opportunity to experience the
beautiful and abundant Louisiana wetlands and wildlife that have contributed to many of his
most beloved memories; and
WHEREAS, Mr. White has been married to his wife, Penny, for sixty-nine years, and
they are the proud parents of Eric T. White, Jennifer Leah White, Alexis White Delcambre,
Kathryn White Carraway, and Nicholas E. White; and
WHEREAS, Gordie White is most deserving of the highest recognition for his efforts
to grow and sustain the New Iberia chapter of Ducks Unlimited over the last half century,
and the chapter's longevity is a testament to his values of community, stewardship, and love
for the natural world.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Gordie White for his commitment to
waterfowl conservation through Ducks Unlimited and the preservation of North America's
wetlands and wildlife and does hereby extend sincere wishes that his inspiring efforts serve
to motivate younger generations of Louisianians to continue the stewardship of the state's
natural environment.
