HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 60
BY REPRESENTATIVE MARCELLE
A RESOLUTION
To commend student parents pursuing higher education and to recognize the importance of
support during their academic endeavors.
WHEREAS, student parents are a significant and growing population within
institutions of higher education, and they demonstrate exceptional determination and
resilience while balancing the responsibilities of raising children and pursuing academic and
career advancement; and
WHEREAS, by contributing to their own educational growth, student parents secure
the well-being and future stability of their families and communities; and
WHEREAS, access to supportive resources, including academic support and safe
environments for children, plays a critical role in helping student parents complete their
educational goals; and
WHEREAS, organizations such as Generation Upward Foundation work to support
and advocate for student parents as they navigate the challenges of higher education while
caring for their families; and
WHEREAS, recognition and support of student parents strengthens families,
promotes educational attainment, and contributes to a stronger and more equitable
workforce.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend student parents pursuing higher education;
does hereby recognize the importance of support during their academic endeavors; and does
hereby extend enduring appreciation for the efforts of those working to support their success.
