BY REPRESENTATIVE WALTERS
A RESOLUTION
To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of ShaMonica
Michelle Bryant Huggins.
WHEREAS, it is with immense sadness and profound regret that the House of
Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana has learned of the passing, on February 17,
2026, of ShaMonica Michelle Bryant Huggins; and
WHEREAS, ShaMonica was born on August 21, 1989, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to
Robert Jett, Sr., and Stephanie Hawkins; she accepted Christ at an early age and joined Faith
Baptist Fellowship; and
WHEREAS, ShaMonica graduated from Huntington High School in 2007 and always
strived for excellence in her academic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, ShaMonica was passionate about her work as a hair stylist and found
joy in using her creative artistry to make others feel beautiful; she cherished her work in
retail, where her caring spirit impacted many lives; and
WHEREAS, ShaMonica Michelle Bryant Huggins is survived by her husband,
Jacorey Huggins; daughters, Zikara Woodard, Ziaira Woodard, and Ja'Niyah Huggins;
parents, Stephanie Hawkins (Greg) and Robert Jett, Sr.; grandparents, Larry Black (Alice)
and Lodis Bryant; sisters, TraNiqua Bryant, TraShayla Bryant, and Raven Eneh
(Ifeanyichukwu); brother, Robert Jett, Jr.; mother-in-law, LaShonda Huggins Douglas;
sister-in-law, Jatarie Huggins; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended
relatives and friends; she will be deeply missed, but the legacy of her loving spirit shall live
on in the hearts and minds of those who were privileged to have known her.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express heartfelt condolences on the death of
ShaMonica Michelle Bryant Huggins and does hereby extend sincere wishes that her family,
friends, and loved ones find comfort in their shared memories of her beautiful life.
